RR - Psalm 31:10 Part 10

Shalom,

Psalm 31:10 Be gracious to me, Adonai, for I am in distress. My eyes waste away with grief, my soul and my body as well.

He’s described as a man after God’s own heart, as the priest and prophet, Samuel, describes the future king, David, to the current king, Saul…  1Samuel 13:14b “Adonai has sought for Himself a man after His own heart.”  King David’s message throughout the Psalms doesn’t really change much.  He is in distress, finding himself unable to help himself break free from certain destruction.  David repeatedly confesses his total reliance upon God’s grace for salvation.

Yeshua is “David’s Son…”. Matthew 1:1a The book of the genealogy of Yeshua ha-Mashiach, Ben-David.  This is further explained by Paul as he testified in the synagogue in Antioch.  Acts 13:22b …He raised up David to be their king. He also testified about him and said, ‘I have found David, the son of Jesse, a man after My heart, who will do My will.’ 23 “From this man’s seed, in keeping with His promise, God brought to Israel a Savior—Yeshua.”

In Hebrew we find the phrase “Ki Tzar-Li”  meaning “for I am in trouble.”  The word, “Tzar,” is from “Tzarar” meaning “to be bound up in narrow places.”  It stands in contrast to the mention in the previous verse of “Marachav,” or “broad open places.”  Spiritually, these describe the opposites of liberty and shut up in distress (or afflicted).  This is where we get the phrase, in dire straits.  Yeshua gives liberty… John 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed!

There are so many Psalms and other Scriptures that command us to shout the praises of God!  Psalm 95:1 O come, let us sing for joy to Adonai. Let us shout for joy to the rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving. Let us shout joyfully to Him with songs.  Jeremiah actually found it adversarial to hold it in.  Jeremiah 20:9 But if I say: “I won’t mention Him, or speak any more in His Name,” then it is like fire burning in my heart—shut up in my bones—I weary myself holding it in, but I cannot.”

Oh Israel, behold the Son (Reuben), and you will become a son of the right hand (Benyamin).  Yeshua lamented 2,000 years ago.  Luke 19:41  As He drew near and saw Jerusalem, He wept over her, 42 saying, “If only you had recognized this day the things that lead to shalom! But now they are hidden from your eyes. 43 For the days will come upon you when your enemies will surround you with barricades and hem you in on all sides. 44 And they will smash you to the ground—you and your children within you. And they won’t leave within you one stone upon another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.”  That was the history of Israel then.  May God reveal Yeshua to all of Israel speedily and in our day.  Am Yisrael Chai!
