Psalm 29:10 – Part 10
Psalm 29:10 Adonai sits enthroned over the flood. Yes, Adonai sits as King forever.
Then and now… it’s all the same to God! He was on the throne then, and He is on the throne now. There is no question here, the Lord(YHVH) reigns. Psalm 18:47 Adonai lives! And blessed be my Rock! Exalted be God my salvation! King David is actually building in Psalm 29 the case he already made in Psalm 28… Psalm 28:7 Adonai is my strength and my shield. My heart trusts in Him, and I was helped. Therefore my heart leaps for joy, and I will praise Him with my song.
Rabbi Trail: As we welcome the Shabbat, every Friday night, we pray the Hebrew liturgy designated for the occasion. It is almost exclusively made up of Psalms from the 90s. We take the occasion of the shalom rest that we feel at the beginning of Shabbat to remember the sovereignty of God. Here are two examples….
Psalm 93:1 Adonai reigns—He is robed in majesty! Adonai has robed and armed Himself with strength. Yes, the world is firmly established—unshakable.
Psalm 98:1 A psalm. Sing to Adonai a new song, for He has done marvelous things. His right hand and His holy arm have won victory for Him. 2 Adonai has made His salvation known. He has revealed His righteousness before the eyes of the nations.
End RT.
The Lord is firmly established on His throne. Psalm 45:7(6) Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, and a scepter of justice is the scepter of Your kingdom. Incidentally, this same thought is repeated in Hebrews 1:8 But regarding the Son He says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, and a scepter of uprightness is the scepter of Your Kingdom.
There is one more question that demands an accurate answer… “Who is on the throne of your heart?” Before you answer in a hasty manner, take a moment to reflect. Sometimes we put ourselves on the throne. Sometimes it’s the doctors or even a disease or infirmity. At other times, it can even be our enemies who we elevate to authority in our lives.
The wise man or woman will keep Yeshua on the throne. To Him alone do we give the authority to give us our identity. Yeshua alone has the power to determine our value. He spread His arms on the cross and said, “You are worth My life! I willingly lay it down for you.” And yes, He also has the power to take it up again! His resurrected life He also shares with each of us. And that resurrected life He shares is eternal. You will live forever in His presence. That is His covenant promise.
Revelation 21:3 I also heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the dwelling of God is among men, and He shall tabernacle among them. They shall be His people, and God Himself shall be among them and be their God. 4 He shall wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more. Nor shall there be mourning or crying or pain any longer, for the former things have passed away.” Shalom shalom.
Rabbi’s note: You may notice below today is designated “Yom Yerushalaim.” It is considered a minor holiday (extra biblical) by rabbinic authority. The day commemorates the unification of Jerusalem at the end of the six day war in 1967. On this day we give thanks to God for answering our prayer of 2,000 years “Next year in Jerusalem.” End RN
