RR Psalm 33:20,21 Part 10
Rabbi’s Reflections - Thursday July 31, 2025
Shalom,
Psalm 33:20 Our souls waits for Adonai—He is our help and our shield. 21 Our hearts rejoice in Him, because we trusted in His holy Name.
The last Hebrew word in verse 21 says it all. “Batachnu” means “we have counted on…” what is previously mentioned (according to the Hebrew syntax), “His Holy Name.” God’s “Holy Name” is more than a label, it is His reputation. And (follow me here), God’s reputation is that He tells the truth.
Isaiah knew this to be the truth as He spoke on behalf of God… Isaiah 55:11 “so My word will be that goes out from My mouth. It will not return to Me in vain, but will accomplish what I intend, and will succeed in what I sent it for. Joshua knew it too… Joshua 21:45 Not one good thing that Adonai had promised to the house of Israel failed. All came to pass.
Our Father, Abraham, also believed that God tells the truth. Romans 4:21 He was fully convinced that what God has promised, He also is able to do. 22 That is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.” And we also are participants in the blessing that follows the faithful. Romans 4:23 Now not only for his sake was it written that it was credited to him, 24 but for our sake as well. It is credited to us as those who trust in Him who raised Yeshua our Lord from the dead.
So, keep the faith and inherit the promise of eternal life. John 6:38 “For I have come down from heaven not to do My own will but the will of the One who sent Me. 39 Now this is the will of the One who sent Me, that I lose not one of all He has given Me, but raise each one on the last day. 40 For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who sees the Son and trusts in Him may have eternal life; and I will raise him up on the last day.” Shalom shalom.
