Psalm 38:11,12(10,11) Part 6

Shalom,

Psalm 38:11 My heart pounds, my strength fails me. The light of my eyes—also, not with me. 12 My friends and my companions stay away from my wound, and my kinsmen stand far off.

This is sounding more and more like Yeshua.  As He hung on the cross, His heart was pounding and His strength failed.  Then the light of His eyes grew dim.  Those Yeshua loved most, His disciples and everyone to whom He was close, stayed away.  They stood nearby and could only watch as He died at Calvary.

John 19:25 Standing near the execution stake of Yeshua were His mother, His mother’s sister, Miriam the wife of Clopas, and Miriam from Magdala.

We must prepare ourselves for a similar fate.  Mark 10:38 But Yeshua answered them, “You don’t know what you’re asking! Are you able to drink the cup I drink, or endure the immersion I must endure?” 39 They said to Him, “We are able.” And Yeshua said to them, “You will drink the cup I drink, and you will endure the immersion I must endure.”

That “immersion” Yeshua mentioned is Baptism by Fire.  John the Baptist mentioned it also, fully connecting that baptism (immersion) to baptism by fire in the Holy Spirit.  Matthew 3:11 “As for me, I immerse you in water for repentance. But the One coming after me is mightier than I am; I am not worthy to carry His sandals. He will immerse you in the Ruach ha-Kodesh and fire.

We must all be prepared to be purified by fire.  1Corinthians 3:12 Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each one’s work will become clear. For the Day will show it, because it is to be revealed by fire; and the fire itself will test each one’s work—what sort it is.

We are admonished by Paul to follow his example, “like a skilled master builder,” building God’s house… 1Corinthians 3:16 Don’t you know that you (all) are God’s temple and that the Ruach Elohim dwells among you?  Our subject verses describe the end of life in the physical realm, but there is another life, eternal life, that will endure in the spiritual realm.  Yeshua said exactly that as He prayed in the garden just before he went willingly to the cross.  John 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Yeshua the Messiah, the One You sent.  May we all know and keep covenant with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit for all eternity.  Shalom shalom.
