Psalm 34:11(10) Young lions may lack, and go hungry, but those who seek Adonai want for no good thing.

Compare and contrast!  That’s the creative use of colorful descriptive language by the Psalmist.  First, let's compare “young lions” with those who “seek Adonai.”  Then we will contrast those who “go hungry” with those who “want for no good thing.”  Finally then, we will conclude with the answer to a question, “Which description applies to you?”
Young lions are inexperienced hunters.  They are capable of hunting, but are not the seasoned patriarchs able to govern the tribe with wisdom.  They are not skilled in the proper use of their talents.  God is calling His people to maturity.

1Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, long for pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow toward salvation— 3 now that you have tasted that the Lord is good…. 5a you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house.

As we mature in Yeshua, we become skilled… 2Timothy 2:15 Make every effort to present yourself before God as tried and true, as an unashamed worker cutting a straight path with the word of truth.  Paul’s letter to the Philippians is widely considered as a call to maturity.  He finishes it with a flourish… Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any virtue and if there is anything worthy of praise—dwell on these things.

Don’t be satisfied to remain a young lion, but rather seek the Lord as Asaph wrote for King David, a prayer of thanksgiving.  1Chronicles 16:11 Seek Adonai and His strength. Seek His face always.  Those who do seek the Lord will be satisfied, and those who don’t seek Him never will.  Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

We are born with a feeling that something is missing.  I’ll let you in on a well protected secret, what’s missing is the need to be loved.  Another way to say that is that we all need to be valued.  Until we receive God’s love for us, we will never be satisfied.  John 3:16  “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

So then, which one are you?  Are you in need or are you filled?  Don’t wait for some person to come along to meet your need, find your fulfillment in the Lord.  Psalm 138:7 Though I walk amid trouble, You revive me. You stretch out Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand delivers me. 8 Adonai will fulfill His purpose for me. Your lovingkindness, Adonai, endures forever. Do not abandon the work of Your hands.  Shalom shalom.
