RR Psalm 49:6(5) – Part 3
Shalom,
Psalm 49:6 Why should I fear in evil days? when the iniquity of my deceivers surrounds me?
This verse is in the form of a question. “Why should I fear?” is really the flip side of “Fear not.” Let’s work backward… Paul wrote to his son in the faith, Timothy. 2Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of timidity but of power and love and self-discipline. Before that, Yeshua spoke it… John 14:27 “Shalom I leave you, My shalom I give to you; but not as the world gives! Do not let your heart be troubled or afraid. Before Yeshua, most of the prophets also. Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Surely I will help you. I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. And King David too. Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me: Your rod and Your staff comfort me. Prior to David, Moses. Deuteronomy 31:6 Chazak! Be courageous! Do not be afraid or tremble before them. For Adonai your God—He is the One who goes with you. He will not fail you or abandon you.”
By now we should see clearly, God has made “fear not” a pervasive theme throughout Scripture. We are to be a people of faith, and faith is never compatible with fear. Psalm 56:4 In a day when I am afraid, I will put my trust (another word for faith) in You. 5 In God—I keep praising His word—in God I trust, I will not fear. What can mere flesh do to me?
When are we called to show forth faith and not fear? In the “evil days.” I’m sorry, when is that? Today! Psalm 95:7 For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, the flock of His hand. Today, if you hear His voice: 8 “Do not harden your heart as at Meribah, as in the day of Massah in the wilderness. Those were days in the desert wilderness when Israel complained before God.
To hear God’s voice requires a soft heart. Ephesians 5:15 So pay close attention to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise. 16 Make the most of your time because the days are evil. 17 For this reason do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. The days may be evil, but we, God’s people, are not. Psalm 23:3 He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for His Name’s sake. And finally for today,… Proverbs 4:18 The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, shining brighter and brighter until the full day. Shalom shalom.

Official Prayer for the State of Israel
2 min read
Heavenly Father, Israel’s Rock and Redeemer, bless the State of Israel, the first flowering of our redemption. Shield it under the wings of your loving-kindness and spread over it the Tabernacle of your peace. Send your light and truth to its leaders, ministers and counselors, and direct them with good counsel before you.
Strengthen the hands of the defenders of our Holy Land, grant them deliverance, our God, and crown them with the crown of victory. Grant peace in the land and everlasting joy to its inhabitants.
As for our brothers, the whole house of Israel, remember them in all the lands of their dispersion, and swiftly lead them upright to Zion your city, and Jerusalem your dwelling place, as is written in the Torah of Moses your servant: “Even if you are scattered to the furthermost lands under the heavens, from there the LORD your God will gather you and take you back. The LORD your God will bring you to the land your ancestors possessed and you will possess it; and he will make you more prosperous and numerous than your ancestors. Then the LORD your God will open up your heart and the heart of your descendants, to love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live” (Dt. 30:4–6).
Unite our hearts to love and revere your name and observe all the words of your Torah, and swiftly send us your righteous anointed one of the house of David, to redeem those who long for your salvation.
Appear in your glorious majesty over all the dwellers on earth, and let all who breathe declare: The LORD God of Israel is King and his kingship has dominion over all (cf. Ps. 103:19). Amen, Selah.
