RR Psalm 43:4 Part 4
Shalom,
Psalm 43:4 Then I will come to the altar of God, to the God of my exceeding joy, and praise You upon the harp—O God, my God.
Follow the progression here… in the previous verse, we are guided by the “light and truth” of God to Mount Zion (God’s holy mountain). There we are promised access to the “Mishkan,” God’s Tabernacle. That was yesterday in verse 3. Today, in verse 4 we come to the “Miz’be’ach,” the altar of God.
The “Miz’be’ach” is the “altar” within the “Mishkan” (Tabernacle). It is the place of sacrifice where blood is shed. It is the place where the offering is made by us and accepted by God. It is the place where sin (its cause, the sin itself, and its effects) are transferred to the sacrifice. It is the Old Testament altar of the New Testament Cross. This is where all those shadows of good things to come have their reality in Yeshua.
Hebrews 10:10 By His will we have been made holy through the offering of the body of Messiah Yeshua once for all…. 14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those being made holy…. 19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have boldness to enter into the Holies by the blood of Yeshua.
What follows in Psalm 43, verse 4 is praise for God upon the harp. In Hebrew, the word translated as “praise” is “Od’cha,” the same Shoresh as “Todah,” which gives us the intention of praise through “thanksgiving.” So, let me ask you a question, “Can we ever thank god enough?” Consider what He did to bring us into His family.
Galatians 4:4 But when the fullness of time came, God sent out His Son, born of a woman and born under law— 5 to free those under law, so we might receive adoption as sons.
That’s right, we are no longer slaves but heirs according to God’s promise. For this we must be eternally grateful. Never will we say to God, “What have You done for me lately?” We must praise Him with thanksgiving. Psalm 69:31 I will praise God’s Name with a song, and magnify Him with praise (of thanksgiving). Shalom shalom.
