Keith & Kami Henschen

Congregational Leader

Keith received a bachelor’s degree in youth and music from Crown College of the Bible.  He then earned a master of ministry and was ordained as an elder in at Shomair in 2017 and set in as the congregational leader in August of 2022. Kami also attended Crown College and received her bachelor’s degree in secondary education.
The Henschens began attending Shomair after being introduced to the Messianic movement through a series of books.  They found a depth of the Scriptures they had not previously known when they approached the Bible from a Hebraic perspective.  The Henschens live on a small farm where they raise their seven children, whom they homeschool.  It is their desire to help the local Body of Messiah grow and function as outlined in Scripture.

Rabbi Michael & Jan Weiner

Rabbi Emeritus & Founder

Rabbi Michael Weiner was raised, Bar Mitzvahed and later confirmed in the Conservative congregation, B’nai Israel, on 9th Avenue in Pensacola, Florida with two Jewish parents and four Jewish grandparents.  Growing up, he was at the synagogue 5 days a week.  He became a follower of Yeshua at the age of 30 at Ohev Yisrael Messianic Congregation in Northern Virginia where he served as a Shamas (Deacon) for ten years.  After relocating to Knoxville in 1995, Michael was set in by Dan Juster as senior leader of Shomair Yisrael in 1998 and later fully ordained as a Messianic Rabbi by Tikkun America.  Today, Michael is Rabbi Emeritus at Shomair and serves on the Tikkun American Apostolic Team.

Jan Weiner, over the past 33 years, has led Women’s Ministries and taught Bible studies at Regional Conferences, retreats, and gatherings at the invitation of various churches and ministries in Eastern Tennessee. She served in the capacities of elder, Women’s Pastor, Bible Teacher, Prayer Leader and Intercessor at Lionheart Restoration Ministries.   Earlier, Jan served on staff in several capacities at Fellowship Church. Prior to ministry experience, Jan developed training materials and taught for the Air Force, the Department of Defense, and the Pentagon. She holds an M.S. in Educational Psychology and has overseen halfway houses for chronic schizophrenics for both Oak Ridge and Knoxville Mental Health Centers.  Jan has two adult children, and seven grandchildren. In March of 2020, Jan said “Yes” to Rabbi Michael’s proposal of marriage, and states, “That was the most God ordained decision I’ve ever made, PTL!”

Jan and Michael have been together for more than 5 years.  Their testimony is that the Lord has done an amazing and wonderful thing to flawlessly put together two very different people, now well into their seventies, and supposedly set in their ways.  Their love for each other is contagious within the congregation, which is full of people of all ages.  Currently, Jan and Michael are discipling the congregation through a series of teachings on the Song of Songs, a love song that shows us how God prepares His bride for His Son.
