RR Psalm 41:3(2) Part 2

Shalom,

Psalm 41:3 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When will I come and appear before God?

Is that a real question?  To “appear before God” is both something to be anticipated as a joyous event, or it can be dreaded with fear and trembling.  The Bible prophesies both possibilities in one verse.  Psalm 96:9 Bow down to Adonai in holy splendor. Tremble before Him, all the earth.

From where does this “trembling” come?  It comes by thinking that our life is like a playground teeter-totter on which our good deeds are placed on one end and our evil deeds on the other end.  If the “scale” tips because the bad outweighs the good, down the chute to hell we go.  So the false belief continues, if the good outweighs the bad, the scale will tip in our favor and off we go into God’s presence in heaven for all eternity.

Of course both possibilities are a false imagination.  Even the slightest evil that is not covered by the blood (more on that in a moment) will separate us from God’s presence.  And contrarily, when we are justified by faith, Yeshua puts the smallest drop of His blood on the scale and it always tips to deliver us into His presence for eternity.

Romans 3:25 God set forth Yeshua as an atonement, through faith in His blood, to show His righteousness in passing over sins already committed.

By laying our sins at the foot of the cross, His blood heals all our wounds.  1Peter 2:24 He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we, removed from sins, might live for righteousness. “By His wounds you were healed.”

My friends, this is a big subject, and I don’t want to give it short shrift.  However; I am pressed for time today, so let’s agree to pick this up again tomorrow.  Until then, shalom shalom.

Rabbi Trail:  I’m writing this for the December 25th RR.  Although I never met anyone who is absolutely sure December 25th is Yeshua’s real birthday, (personally, I believe the first day of Sukkot is much more likely) it is the day when much of the world is focused on His birth.  Luke 2:11 A Savior is born to you today in the city of David, who is Messiah the Lord…. 13 And suddenly a multitude of heavenly armies appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth shalom to men of good will.” End RT.
