RR Psalm 44:14-17(13-16) Part 4
Shalom,
Psalm 44:14 You made us a taunt for our neighbors, a scorn and ridicule for those around us. 15 You have made us a byword among the nations, head-wagging among the peoples. 16 All day my disgrace is before me, and my face is covered with shame— 17 because of the sound of taunting and reviling from the face of a vengeful enemy.
These verses of Psalm 44 document the trouble brought to Israel by her surrounding neighbors. That was then. The problem today is that many people (both individuals and nationalities) have not come to realize that the time to favor Zion has come.
Psalm 102:14(13) You will arise and have compassion on Zion, for it is time to show favor to her, for the appointed time has come.
Moreover, those nations who rise us against Israel today will be judged by God. Joel 4:1 (Chapter 3 in most Christian Bibles) “For behold, in those days and at that time, when I restore Judah and Jerusalem from exile, 2a I will gather all nations and bring them down to the valley of Jehoshaphat. I will plead with them there on behalf of My people, even My inheritance, Israel, whom they scattered among the nations and they divided up My land.”
Let’s look at the descriptive words in our subject text. Words such as, “taunt, scorn, ridicule, by-word, head wagging, disgrace, shame, taunting (again), reviling and vengeful.” This world is a mess, and our enemies are having a field day. Why does the Lord permit such abuse? Here is my answer to that question.
No one knows the exact day or hour, but consider these things. We are living near the end of 6,000 years (since Adam fell from the Garden) of pain, suffering and death. But soon, that 6,000 years will come to an end. Yeshua will return to the Mount of Olives and take up His holy throne in Jerusalem and rule and reign for 1,000 years. In broad strokes, 2,000 years from Adam to Abraham. 2,000 more years from Abraham to Yeshua’s first coming (the timing might not be from His birth, but from His death). Finally, 2,000 more years from Yeshua’s first coming until His second coming.
At the end of Yeshua’s 1,000 year reign, something happens. Revelation 20:2 He seized the dragon—the ancient serpent, who is the devil and satan—and bound him for a thousand years. 3 He also threw him into the abyss and locked and sealed it over him, so that he would not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were completed. After these things, he must be released for a short while.
This end time release of satan (the opposer) is to see who will follow him. By then we will have had 6,000 years of satan’s administration (remember, pain, suffering and death) followed by the millennial (1,000 years) reign of Yeshua. Revelation 21:4 “He shall wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more. Nor shall there be mourning or crying or pain any longer, for the former things have passed away.”
Wait, it is God’s kingdom now (already upon us) or God’s kingdom then (coming soon)? Yes, it’s both now and then. Luke 11:20 But if by the finger of God I drive out demons, then the kingdom of God has come to you. As we say in the Lord’s Prayer… “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” God’s kingdom comes whenever and wherever He is King, and He is King when His will is done. May His kingdom increase through you and me. In Yeshua’s name, amen. Shalom shalom.
