RR Psalm 41:5(4) Part 4

Shalom,

This verse sets up the rest of Psalm 41.  It does so in three parts.  The first is a simple declaration, “Adonai, have mercy (Cha’nay’ni - with the accent on the second syllable).”  Chen has been explained extensively by our friend David Harwood, who writes the RRs published every Saturday.  In total, Chen has been mentioned 28 times in these RRs since July 1st.  (I didn’t count them, my computer told me.)  It is one of several Hebrew words that is used to explain “grace.”

We need the grace (undeserved favor that we didn’t earn) of God to heal the effects of sin, which is exactly what this verse is describing.  "Heal my soul” is the next part.  We are broken, cut off from fellowship with God on account of the original sin that we inherited from Adam.  Adam was banned from the Garden, and nothing has been the same since.  Sickness, death, pain and suffering were never part of God’s original plan for man.  Living in peace and harmony in full submission to the wisdom of God (as expressed by His commandments) is the easy way of life of harmony and joy.

But… Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.  1John 1:8 If we say we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.  Ecclesiastes 7:20 Surely there is not a righteous person on earth who does what is good and doesn’t sin.

But thanks be to God that He didn’t leave us in this condition of isolation from Him.  Yeshua is the way… Romans 3:24 They are set right as a gift of His grace, through the redemption that is in Messiah Yeshua.  We have the promise of healing from Yehovah Rofeh, which is the answer to the prayer of our subject verse.

Revelation 21:4 He shall wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more. Nor shall there be mourning or crying or pain any longer, for the former things have passed away.” 5 And the One seated upon the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new!” Then He said, “Write, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

Receive the promised blessing, in the name of Yeshua.  Shalom shalom.
