RR Psalm 49:15,16(14,15) Part 9

(Early) Shabbat Shalom,

Psalm 49:15 Like sheep they are destined for Sheol. Death will be their shepherd and the upright will rule over them in the morning. Their image will decay in Sheol—far from its lofty place. 16 But God redeems my soul from the power of Sheol—for He receives me. Selah

In Psalm 49:15 we learn, “Death will be their shepherd….”  Who are these people who are “Like sheep… destined for Sheol?”  They are described previously in Psalm 49 as rich folks who refuse to trust God.  But the Scriptures are clear, no one can buy his way into heaven.  Yeshua told His disciples… Matthew 19:23b …“Amen, I tell you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.”… 25b …When the disciples heard this, they were utterly astonished.  And, if that’s not enough, we have the parable of the rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31).

Don’t believe all those deceivers who promise that somehow someway we’re all going to end up in “La La Land.”  Hell is a real place of real suffering for a real long time.  Revelation 20:10 And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are too, and they shall be tortured day and night forever and ever.

But, it is not just the unholy trinity that are thrown into the Lake of Fire…. Revelation 20:14 Then death and Sheol were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death—the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone was not found written in the Book of Life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

And this is not the only mention… (I don’t usually write much about this.  I prefer that people get saved by being loved into the kingdom of God rather than being threatened into it.  But, be wise.)

2Thessalonians 1:8 in flaming fire, He will command judgment on those who do not know God and do not heed the Good News of our Lord Yeshua. 9 They will pay the price of eternal ruin, away from the presence of the Lord and the glory of His power.

How will you answer the call of God?  Consider the options and be wise in your response.  Shabbat shalom.
