RR Psalm 37:10,11 Part 8

Shalom,

Psalm 37:10 Yet a little while, and the wicked will be no more. Yes, you will look at his place, but he will not be there. 11 But the meek will inherit the land, and delight in abundant shalom.

Who knew?  We did, if we believe what Yeshua said….  John 12:49 For I did not speak on My own, but the Father Himself who sent Me has commanded Me what to say and speak.  (See also John 5:19 & John 8:28.)  As Yeshua begins His “sermon on the mount,” He is partially quoting Psalm 37:11.

Matthew 5:5 “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”

This blessing of inheritance is exactly opposite the curse on the wicked who will, “Be no more.”  The “wicked” are those who do wrong.  By definition, they are guilty law breakers.  We are all guilty law breakers, that is until, by grace, our spiritual eyes are opened and we place our faith in Yeshua.  He becomes so attractive to us, that we commit to walk as He walked and we are saved.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not from yourselves—it is the gift of God. 9 It is not based on deeds, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are His workmanship—created in Messiah Yeshua for good deeds, which God prepared beforehand so we might walk in them.

Want more “good news?”  You don’t have to be Jewish to get this inheritance in the land.

Ephesians 2:13 But now in Messiah Yeshua, you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of the Messiah.14a For He is our shalom, the One who made the two into one and broke down the middle wall of separation. 15b He did this in order to create within Himself one new man… making shalom,… 17 And He came and proclaimed shalom to you who were far away and shalom to those who were near— 18 for through Him we both have access to the Father by the same Ruach. 19 So then you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household.

You can be Jewish, or you can be non-Jewish.  It doesn’t matter, because you still have a promised inheritance in Messiah Yeshua’s kingdom.  To be sure, no one is saved by their parents’ faith.  As the saying goes, “God has no grandchildren, only children.”  I find the use of the word “meek” to be less than ideal.  These are the humble described as….

Rom 12:3a For through the grace given me, I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of yourself than you ought to think.

There are three possible teams, but only one will win.  There is God’s winning team, Satan’s losing team, and also those who trust in themselves (they are really on Satan’s team too) will also lose.  Some try to align with more than one team.  Those are called “double minded,” and are promised destruction along with all the other sinners.  Jacob 4:8 Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded!

Humble yourself before God.  Put your trust (faith) in Him, and He will deliver you out of trouble.  Psalm 50:15 “Call upon Me in the day of trouble. When I rescue you, you will honor Me.” Shalom shalom.
