RR Psalm 41:9-11(8-10) Part 6

Shalom,

Psalm 41:9 “Something evil was poured into him—he will not get up again from the place where he lies.” 10 Even my own close friend, whom I trusted, who ate my bread, has lifted up his heel against me. 11 But You, Adonai, have mercy on me, and raise me up, so I may repay them.

Here, in Psalm 41 we find an amazing prophecy of Yeshua’s relationship with Judas Iscariot.  Notice Yeshua’s choice of words one thousand years later… John 13:18 “I am not speaking to all of you—I know whom I have chosen. But so the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘He who eats My bread has lifted up his heel against Me.’  An exact quote from Psalm 41:10.

And yes, “something evil” was poured into Judas Iscariot.  John 13:26 Yeshua answers, “It’s the one I will give this bit of matzah to, after I dip it.” After dipping the matzah, He takes it and gives it to Judah from Kriot, the son of Simon. 27 And with that bit, satan entered into him. Then Yeshua tells him, “What you’re about to do, do quickly!”
One might ask, “How could Satan use the matzah and the fruit of the vine that is the body and blood of Yeshua (holy communion) to empower Judas?”  The answer is in the word “empower.”  When we receive communion, whatever is in us is empowered (enough power to resurrect Yeshua), life-from-the-dead power!

In the case of Judas, his unrepentant sin was empowered.  Paul warns the Corinthians… 1Corinthians 11:29 For the one who eats and drinks without recognizing the body, eats and drinks judgment on himself. 30 For this reason many among you are weak and sick, and quite a few have died.

We must all pray, “Yehovah(YHVH) Chanayni,” meaning “Oh Lord, have mercy upon me!”  We are all guilty, with a death sentence hanging over our heads.  Except God, through His Son transformed that verdict from guilty to innocent, a complete vindication.  In other words, while we have sinned, God has chosen to see us a righteous through the sacrifice of His Son.

Romans 3:21 But now God’s righteousness apart from the Torah has been revealed, to which the Torah and the Prophets bear witness— 22 namely, the righteousness of God through putting trust in Messiah Yeshua, to all who keep on trusting. For there is no distinction, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. 24 They are set right as a gift of His grace, through the redemption that is in Messiah Yeshua.

Now we are able to stand in His presence by the authority of His Son’s righteousness, by faith.  That’s the best good news we could hope or imagine.  Shalom shalom.
