RR Psalm 35:4,5 Part 3
(Early) Shabbat Shalom {{firstName}},
Psalm 35:4 May those who seek my life be ashamed and disgraced. May they be turned back and humiliated—those who plot evil against me. 5 May they be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of Adonai driving them off.
This entire Psalm takes on a new tone, not seen in previous Psalms. This new tone is one of prayer, as the author implores God for justice as his enemies are defeated. When you trust in the Lord, your enemies are His enemies too. There is both good and evil in this world in which we live, and interestingly, there is nothing in between.
Revelation 3:15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. Oh, that you were either cold or hot! 16 So because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I am about to spew you out of My mouth.
What does this mean? We must choose if we are for God or against God. However; we must all be warned not to deceive ourselves. While the decision is made mentally, it is lived out in the reality of our actions.
Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived—God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows, that he also shall reap. 8 For the one who sows in the flesh will reap corruption from the flesh. But the one who sows in the Ruach will reap from the Ruach eternal life. 9 So let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we don’t give up.
Thus, we will see our enemies defeated. Deu 28:2 Then all these blessings will come upon you and overtake you, if you listen to the voice of Adonai your God: 6 “Blessed will you be when you come in, and blessed will you be when you go out. 7 Adonai will cause your enemies who rise up against you to be struck down before you. They will come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.
And let everyone say, “Yes and amen!” Shalom shalom.
