RR Psalm 32:6 Part 6

Psalm 32:6 So let everyone who is godly pray to You in a time when You may be found. When great floodwaters rise, they will not reach him.

The object here is to be a “Chosed,” meaning “a godly person.”  We’ve already studied about Chasidim previously (see the RR for July 2, 2025 titled “Psalm 31:24(23) – Part 20”).  All of that notwithstanding, how can we know if this promised benefit will really apply to us.  How can we know we will be “unreachable” by floodwaters (And what does that even mean really)?

Rabbi Trail: The RR daily devotionals are now available in three formats.  First, by daily email subscription, then, also on our website, wherethey are archived on syknox.org as a blog.  And finally, as podcasts on our Shomair App or just about anywhere podcasts are found. (Search “Rabbi’s Reflections.”  I just found them on both YouTube and Spotify.) End RT.

We have some questions to answer, and the questions seem to focus on soteriology (the study of who is saved and how they are saved).  The question that commands an answer is not physical death (we’re all going to die a natural death) but rather the destiny of our soul and spirit is in question.

The “floodwaters” are metaphorical for any circumstance that will cause our eternal separation from God.  By definition, this metaphor is now a faith issue.  Hebrews 11:6 Now without faith it is impossible to please God. For the one who comes to God must believe that He exists and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

The converse is also true, God will not reward sin or a sinner.  He is a destroyer of those who diligently reject Him.  John 3:36 He who trusts in the Son has eternal life. He who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.

So, how do you know where you fit in to God’s divine plan for eternity?  Yeshua made this promise… John 6:47 “Amen, amen I tell you, he who believes has eternal life.  And how can we know we have believed?  John 6:40  “For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who sees the Son and trusts in Him may have eternal life; and I will raise him up on the last day.”  A life of faith in the Savior does what the Savior did.  There is evidence of a changed life that follows His ways.  1Peter 2:21 For you were called to this, because Messiah also suffered for you, leaving you an example so that you might follow in His footsteps.  Walk as He walked, Shalom shalom.
