RR Psalm 68:10 Part 6

Shalom,

Psalm 68:10 You poured down abundant rain, O God. You sustained Your weary inheritance.

There are only four Hebrew words in the first half of verse 10.  The first and last ones are quite familiar.  They are “Geshem” (rain) and “Elohim” (God).  The two words in between are amazing.

First, “N’da’vot” (plural for “N’davah”) is commonly known as a “freewill offering.”  Usually, we are making an offering to God, but here, God is making a “freewill” offering to His inheritance (us, His community).  Let’s meditate on this for a moment.  Don’t miss it… these words mean God is showering abundant gifts of His own freewill upon His inheritance.  This is from God’s “inner impulse.”  What’s even better, is that God is showering gifts in the plural (meaning many times over), so that we can live and thrive in His presence.  The greatest gift is Yeshua, and all God’s blessings come through Him.

Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Messiah.

The second word is “Ta’nif” which means to wave, as a wave offering.  But once again, it is not us “waving” an offering before God, but Him waving an offering before us.  The “wave” is like a military salute acknowledging authority.

Yeshua is the reality of all authority.  His once and for all time sacrifice made every other offering (including every wave offering) possible.  Hebrews  9:14 how much more will the blood of Messiah—who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God—cleanse our conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Together, the amplified understanding would be that God can’t help Himself.  His will or desire is to pour out (rain down) abundant blessings (gifts) upon you, acknowledging your position (close to Him) made possible by Yeshua’s sacrifice.  Does that not make you glad and joyful from the inside out?

Isaiah 45:8 “Rain down, O heavens, from above, and let the clouds pour down justice. Let the earth open up, let salvation sprout, and righteousness spring up with it. I, Adonai, have created it.”

Yes, God promises a harvest of righteousness.  Isaiah 55:10 For as the rain and snow come down from heaven, and do not return there without having watered the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to sow and bread to eat, 11 so My word will be that goes out from My mouth. It will not return to Me in vain, but will accomplish what I intend, and will succeed in what I sent it for.

The second half of the verse also has four Hebrew words.  Na’cha’lat’cha (your inheritance) V’Nil’ah (weary, describes God’s inheritance) Ata (You, speaking of God) Ko’nan’tah (from “Kun” meaning “faithfully established and made firm”).  An amplified understanding would be that God has taken His weary inheritance and through His authority made them (us) steadfast and unshakable.

Hebrews 12:28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude—through this we may offer worship in a manner pleasing to God, with reverence and awe.

Psalm 55:23 Cast your burden on Adonai, and He will sustain you. He will never let the righteous be shaken.

May Your blessings rain upon Your people, oh Lord, that they (we) might be firmly established and made unshakeable forevermore.  Amen.  Shalom shalom.
