RR Psalm 49:10,11(9,10) Part 5
Shalom,
Psalm 49:10(9) Will he live forever—and never see the Pit?
Psa 49:11(10) Surely he must see, even wise men die. The fool and the brutish will alike perish, leaving their wealth to others.
Again, it’s a question! Will he (the one who “trusts in his wealth”) live forever? The answer is swift… “Surely he must see” that even the wise die. Hebrews 9:27 And just as it is appointed for men to die once, and after this judgment,… however, that’s not the whole story. Yeshua comes to earth as a man and changed everything. Hebrews 9:28 so also Messiah, was offered once to bear the sins of many. He will appear a second time, apart from sin, to those eagerly awaiting Him for salvation.
Rabbi Trail: The second part of Psalm 49, verse 11(10) reminded me of parts of Psalm 92, (Note: Psalm 92 is labeled as a Psalm for the Sabbath Day.). Psalm 92:7 A brutish man does not know, nor does a fool understand. 8 Though the wicked spring up like grass, and all evildoers flourish, it is only to be ruined forever. End RT.
Remember wisdom? It is mentioned earlier in Psalm 49. Wisdom is to remember (as mentioned above in the quote from Hebrews 9:27) that we all have an appointment before God when we will all be judged. Unless, however; for those who have faith in Messiah Yeshua, (through faith to receive forgiveness) there is no such appointment. John 5:24 “Amen, amen I tell you, whoever hears My word and trusts the One who sent Me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed over from death into life.
What’s left for today? We acknowledge that no one can redeem himself, neither can any person redeem another person. God alone has this sovereignty. 1John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. May we all enjoy the blessings of His grace. Shalom shalom.
