RR Psalm 48:10-12 Part 7

Shavuah Tov,

Psalm 48:10 We have meditated on Your lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of Your Temple. 11 Like Your Name, O God, so is Your praise to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is full of righteousness. 12 Mount Zion is glad, the daughters of Judah rejoice, because of Your judgments.

Who wrote this Psalm?  If you said, “The son’s of Korach,” you would be correct.  Who was singing in 2 Chronicles 20, which we quoted yesterday?

2Chronicles 20:18b …all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before Adonai to worship Adonai. 19 Levites, from the sons of Kohath and the sons of Korah, stood up to praise Adonai, the God of Israel, with a very loud voice.

Yes, the sons of Korach again provide the connection from Psalm 48 to 2Chronicles 20, to today.  The point being, “Our God is an awesome God.”  According to Psalm 95:3 For Adonai is a great God and a great King above all gods.  Look what God has done in our day!

About 2,500 years ago, in Shushan (the capital of what is now Iran (ancient Persia), the first one to die on the day he had appointed for the destruction of all the Jews was Haman himself (make some noise, to blot out his name, like we do on Purim).  And just 7 days ago (as of this writing), the supreme leader (make some noise) was the first to die, on the day he intended to destroy all the Jews.  May we all say, “Todah Abba” (Thank You, Father).  Shout it out… make a joyful sound to the Lord.  Psalm 100:1b Shout joyfully to Adonai, all the earth!

Both back then and in our day, the very existence of the Jewish people was threatened, “BUT GOD” through His might has once again delivered His people.  Isaiah 40:9 Get yourself up on a high mountain, you who bring good news to Zion! Lift up your voice with strength, you who bring good news to Jerusalem! Lift it up! Do not fear! Say to the cities of Judah: “Behold your God!”  Shalom shalom.
