RR Psalm 66:16 Part 8
(Early) Shabbat Shalom,
Psalm 66:16 Come and listen, all you who fear God. I will tell what He has done for my soul.
Every follower of Yeshua has a story to tell. Followers of Yeshua are known today in most of he world as Christians. In Messianic Judaism we are known as Messianic believers. The first followers of Yeshua were not known as Christians at all, but as followers of “The Way.” To walk as Yeshua walked is not a set of beliefs, or even a set of rules. It is a lifestyle of consistency with the principles of the kingdom of God.
What does that mean? To know the answer, we have to read the Bible, all of it, 39 books of Hebrew Scriptures and 27 books of the Christian Scriptures. I’m purposefully avoiding the term “New Testament” or “New Covenant” because in our mindset, something “new” replaces something “old,” and that’s not what is happening here.
There is one covenant that began in the Garden of Eden. It was renewed through Noah and the flood, then revealed to Abraham, and detailed by Moses in the Torah, before being found in its reality in the life, crucifixion, and resurrection of Yeshua. Now soon, it will be completed when He returns.
This meta-story is called the “Red Thread” that weaves its way from Genesis through Revelation. The blood of animals was shed to make clothes to cover the shame of Adam and Eve. The ram, caught in the thicket, was slain by Abraham as a substitute for Isaac. On the night before the Exodus, Moses and the children of Israel had to kill a lamb and put its blood on their door posts, lintels and basins as protection from the angel of death. Finally, there was no substitute for Yeshua, Who gave His life on the cross.
His finished work at Calvary made it possible for we, who believe, to be refined and purified to stand with Him at the marriage supper of the Lamb. Ephesians 4:13 This will continue until we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of Ben-Elohim—to mature adulthood, to the measure of the stature of Messiah’s fullness.
What has Yeshua done for my soul? Everyone should answer that question. For me, He has delivered me from death to life. Our individual salvation is also part of a collective salvation. 1Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. 10 Once you were “not a people,” but now you are “God’s people.” You were shown “no mercy,” but now you have been shown “mercy.”
Let us rejoice and be glad, for we have been redeemed. Psalm 118:22 The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone. 23 It is from Adonai: it is marvelous in our eyes! 24 This is the day that Adonai has made! Let us rejoice and be glad in it! 25 Hoshia-na! Please, Adonai, save now! We beseech You, Adonai, prosper us! Let all those who fear God come and listen, while we proclaim what God has done for us. Shalom shalom.
