RR Psalm 62:3 Part 2
Shalom,
Psalm 62:3 He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress—I will never be moved.
We end verse 2 with this thought, “My salvation (Yeshuati) comes exactly and surely (Ach) from God (Elohim).” Now, in verse 3, we are able to build on that foundation. Isaiah 33:5 Adonai is exalted, for He dwells on high! He has filled Zion with justice and righteousness. 6 It will be your time of faithfulness, a wealth of salvation, wisdom and knowledge—the fear of Adonai is His treasure.
Rabbi Trail: Have you ever told God how much you love Him? The correct answer is, “No.” Our love for God is, by definition, beyond all ability to express it. Whatever we tell God, there is always more. And that “more” is expressed in our works. John 14:15 “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” That’s a commandment in itself. It’s just not on the menu of life to pick and choose as we like from time to time. Our expectation is that God will save us. His expectation is that we will walk as He walked. That’s what disciples do. End RT.

God is my rock. Is that new? David quoted his own Psalm in his song of deliverance (2Samuel 22:2) Psalm 18:3 Adonai is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer. My God is my rock, in Him I take refuge, my shield, my horn of salvation, my stronghold. When something is important, it is worth repeating. Psalm 92:16 They (the righteous) declare, “Adonai is upright, my Rock—there is no injustice in Him.”
No, it is not something new… God is my rock, a firm foundation. Paul is inclusive when he says, as he speaks of the Children of Israel during the Exodus, “all our fathers,” it is a reference to the grafted in condition of us all. 1Corinthians 10:1 For I do not want you to be ignorant,… that our fathers were all under the cloud and all passed through the sea…. 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink—for they were drinking from a spiritual rock that followed them, and the Rock was Messiah.
This “same spiritual drink” is available to you and me today. Yeshua said it to the Samaritan woman at the well, and He is still saying it to us. John 4:14 But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never be thirsty. The water that I give him will become a fountain of water within him, springing up to eternal life!”
Let’s give David the last word today. Psalm 34:9 Taste and see how good Adonai is. Blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him. Shalom shalom.
