Michael & Jan's Wedding
So we have come to know and trust in the love that God has for us. 1 John 4:16aDue to COVID-19 we will not host a public wedding. We will be getting married on April 4th with the wedding party only. Later in the year we will plan a celebration with all of our friends & family.

Our Story
Thank you for clicking on our wedding landing page. We are delighted to share our good news with you and tell a little of our story (which is still being written).
Early last November I had a meeting with Mike McClung, pastor of Lionheart Ministries, as has been our custom for many years now. At the end of that lunch I asked Mike (Jan Strous’ spiritual covering) if he would inquire on my behalf if Jan would be interested in a courtship relationship. He did and I got a text saying “Jan said she would pray about it.” I didn’t know what to make of that. Frequently, believers will use that phrase as a soft “no.” I found out later that Jan really did pray about it.
About 10 days later (on the Friday after Thanksgiving) I got another text from Mike that said, “Jan said to give her a call.” (Apparently, Mike is a man of few words.) I called as requested and we decided to meet over coffee (yes, at Starbucks®) the following Monday.
Since that first meeting we have not looked back. 37 days later, I proposed in the jewelry store (Rick Terry Jewelry Designs – see the links below and Jan said, “Yes.” We’ve planned our wedding for April 4th at 4pm (4/4 at 4) at the synagogue. If you are on this site, you are invited to attend and celebrate our wedding with us.
Admittedly, this seems fast, but I have 2 things to say about that. First, when God is in it, thing move quickly. Secondly, Scott Moore (trans-local elder at Shomair and long time family friend) and local Pastor Harrold Preyer (Grace and Glory Fellowship) are handling the pre-marital counseling responsibilities, so we are kosher.
There are more people advising us, too numerous to name. But I especially want to thank Lisa Taylor for the lessons on courtship. On April 4th some would say the courtship ends. I prefer to think of the wedding as the time when the courtship really begins.
Jan’s story… “When Mike McClung relayed Michael Weiner’s request I was on my way to Raleigh to celebrate Thanksgiving with my daughter and her family. For eight days my daughter, her husband, many of their friends, my grandchildren, and I all prayed, fervently!!!
I will be honest; this was a very difficult decision. I have been single for 40 years, and since my surrender to the Lord in the midst of that time period, the Lord has, with utmost perfection, stood in the place of my Husband. WHO could POSSIBLY do it better than He? I truthfully can say I had no want; Ps 23 was my resting place, even in the presence of my enemies. In 1996, during a life threatening battle with MS, which the Lord decisively won and healed me, Eph 3:20-21 became my life verses.
During my visit to Raleigh, I listened to the Lionheart Sunday sermon I had missed. Mike McClung made reference to a YouTube video by Don Potter called “What Fits You.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x87xbUgpWt0 It must have been the Lord Who told me to watch that 17 minute video, the theses of which is, “Is God trying to give you a gift you don’t think you need?” The rest is history and as Michael stated earlier, we have not looked back. Surely, Our Lord God is the ULTIMATE gift giver!!

Set me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm. For love is as strong as death, jealousy as cruel as Sheol. Its flames are bolts of fire, the flame of Adonai. 7 Many waters cannot quench love, nor rivers wash it away. If one gave all the wealth of his house for love, it would be utterly despised. Wedding Gifts
Jan and Michael are combining their two households into one, so they are living in Psalm 23:1b “I shall not want.” They are, however, planning a 3 week mini-sabbatical in Israel in late June and early July. Any donation to the Israel Sabbatical fund will be greatly appreciated. If the honeymoon/sabbatical is fully funded they plan to use any overage toward acquisition of their new home in Knoxville.
Many thanks for blessing them in this way!
