Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah Brachot,
This series of videos by JB Bernstein are really excellent. I hope you’re enjoying them. This one, in particular, is excellent to developing a correct mindset for winning Jewish people to Yeshua.
I expect this will be brief. Why do we suddenly have a separate 8th day celebration appended to the week of Sukkot? Leviticus 23:34 “Speak to Bnei-Yisrael, and say, On the fifteenth day of this seventh month is the Feast of Sukkot, for seven days to Adonai.” Then out of the blue, we get this… Leviticus 23:39b The first day is to be a Shabbat rest, and the eighth day will also be a Shabbat rest.
I believe (along with many others) that the real birthday of Yeshua is on the first day of Sukkot. There are many biblically based reasons for this believe, but one of them is found here… John 1:14a And the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us. I believe this is a reference to Yeshua’s birth on the first day of Sukkot (Tabernacles).
Yeshua was a beautiful Jewish boy without sin. To really be without sin, Yeshua needed an eighth day circumcision. Sounds like a great reason to have an 8th day celebration. We are celebrating Yeshua’s “Brit Milah” (His covenant of circumcision). Join us for this celebration at 10:30 on Tuesday morning, then later that evening, at 7PM we will celebrate Simchat Torah.
May the Lord continue to pour out His blessings as we close out this season of the fall Feasts of the Lord with joy in our hearts.
