(Early) Shabbat Shalom,
Psalms
Psalm 15:5 – Part 5
Psalm 15:5 who lends his money without usury, and takes no bribe against the innocent. One who does these things will never be shaken.
I know, I promised that the RR yesterday would be our conclusion of Psalm 15. On top of that, I just finished writing on the value of performing our vows. In that light, please consider this RR a bonus, and the real conclusion of our study of Psalm 15. I just couldn’t miss the chance to write something on the last phrase… Psalm 15:5b One who does these things will never be shaken.
This is connected to a promise from God, a promise to shake everything… Haggai 2:6 For thus says Adonai-Tzva’ot: “In just a little while I will shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land, 7a and I will shake all the nations. There’s a reason God is going to shake the nations, to loose their treasures for the benefit of His kingdom. Haggai 2:7b The treasures of all the nations will come, and I will fill this House with glory,” says Adonai-Tzva’ot.
Makes sense then, that those who are doing God’s will (are already in His kingdom) cannot be shaken. Hebrews 12:28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude—through this we may offer worship in a manner pleasing to God, with reverence and awe. Everything else will be shaken, but not the kingdom of God nor the people in it.
Consistent then is Psalm 62:6 My soul, wait in stillness, only for God—for from Him comes my expectation. 7 He alone is my rock and my salvation, my strong tower—I will not be moved. God is “my strong tower,” a safe place. Proverbs 18:10 The Name of Adonai is a strong tower. The righteous one runs into it and is set safely up high.
Yes, the Lord is our rock, a firm foundation… Matthew 7:24 Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house; and yet it did not fall, for its foundation had been built on the rock. Be a wise master builder. Isaiah 28:16 Therefore thus says Adonai Elohim: ‘Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested stone, a costly cornerstone, a firm foundation—whoever trusts will not flee in haste. Shalom shalom.
