Shalom,

Psalms
Psalm 13:6(5,6) – Part 5

Psalm 13:6 But I trust in Your lovingkindness, my heart rejoices in Your salvation. I will sing to Adonai, because He has been good to me.

Now for part 2 of the two-part conclusion to Psalm 13.  In the first part, we trust in His love, which makes our hearts rejoice in Yeshua.  That much we covered yesterday.  Today, this makes us sing to AdonaI(YHVH) because He has matured (Gamal) me.

Rabbi Trail: The Hebrew word is “Gamal” (Gimel-Mem-Lamed), translated “been good to me,” yet it has some very interesting uses in modern Hebrew.  Coupled with other words it can mean an annuity or retirement plan.  This is something you pay into now with the expectation it will be a blessing to you later.  It can also be used to mean a reward or even an interest free loan.  There is a connotation of a recompense or some type of reciprocal influence. End RT.

Romans 6:23 For sin’s payment is death, but God’s gracious gift is eternal life in Messiah Yeshua our Lord.  We don’t tend to think in terms of reciprocity when it comes to the “gift of eternal life,” but when we enter into His kingdom, both we and He are blessed.  We are created to be the object (and beneficiaries) of His love.  As we mature, we begin to appreciate, not only how He is our inheritance, but we are also His inheritance too.  Rest on that for a moment. (Selah)

Is there a biblical basis for this reciprocity that is baked into our relationship with God?  Ephesians 1:18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what is the richness of His glorious inheritance in the kedoshim.  Whose glorious inheritance?  That’s right, “His.”

Romans 8:31 What then shall we say in view of these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?  Do we believe that?  If we do, and God is commanding that we do believe it, then we have nothing to fear.  Psalm 27:1 Of David. Adonai is my light and my salvation: whom should I fear? Adonai is the stronghold of my life: whom should I dread?… 13 Surely I trust that I will see the goodness of Adonai in the land of the living.  Right again!!! In this life, and in the life to come.  Shalom shalom.
