Shalom,
Victory Over Sin part 44 – Romans, part 105
Romans 8:27 And He who searches the hearts knows the mind of the Ruach, because He intercedes for the kedoshim according to the will of God.
Who is “He?”
Rabbi Trail: Before I answer that question, time for a Hebrew lesson. The personal pronouns in Hebrew sound remarkably similar to the personal pronouns in English, although with completely different meanings. “Hu” (Hey-Vav-Aleph), pronounced like “who,” means he/him, while “Hi” (Hey-Yud-Aleph) pronounced like “he,” means “she.” Confused? Just wait, it gets worse, but that’s for another time. For now “Hu” is (means) “he” (Who is He) is correct on several levels. End RT.
“He” is mentioned twice in our subject verse. In the first mention, He searches the hearts and He knows the mind of the Spirit (Ruach). In the second mention, He intercedes for the holy ones (kedoshim). Back to “Who is He?” “He” has to be Yeshua, because both the Ruach and God are mentioned as being “known by the Ruach” and “interceding according to God’s will.”
Who is our intercessor? 1 John 2:1 calls Yeshua our… “advocate with the Father,” and Hebrews 7:25 tells us… He “always lives to make intercession” for those who are saved.
1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God and there is one Mediator between God and men—a human, Messiah Yeshua.
But, let me ask you another question. Is there more scriptural evidence that Yeshua knows our hearts and minds so that proves He intercedes for us? Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword—piercing right through to a separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And, Who is the Word of God? John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.
He searches hearts and knows minds so that His intercession is with purpose and intention. This raises another question, with the whole world to care for, how can He care for you personally and individually? Answer: He’s God!
Isaiah 9:5 For to us a child is born, a son will be given to us, and the government will be upon His shoulder. His Name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God My Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace. 6 Of the increase of His government and shalom there will be no end—on the throne of David and over His kingdom—to establish it and uphold it through justice and righteousness from now until forevermore. The zeal of Adonai-Tzva’ot will accomplish this.
Did you catch that? There will be no end (without limit) to His government (authority) and shalom (complete wholeness). Not only does He do all things, but in Him, so can you.
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Messiah who strengthens me.
Yes, He searches your heart… Proverbs 20:27 The spirit of man is the lamp of Adonai, searching all his inmost being.
And yes, we want Yeshua to defend us from the accusations of the enemy. 1John 2:1 My children, I am writing these things to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an Intercessor with the Father—the righteous Messiah Yeshua. Yeshua has never lost a case. John 10:28 I give them eternal life! They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of My hand.
Such is the power of God. Rest in the blessed assurance that He is able. Jeremiah 32:27 “Behold, I am Adonai, the God of all flesh; is there anything too hard for Me?” Shalom shalom.
