Rabbi’s Reflections – Monday, April 1, 2024
Shalom,

This is a very different RR.  I started out to expose the lies being told in the media about Israel, and ended up writing about God’s commandment that we should be kind to one another.

VICTOR DAVIS HANSON: Gaza — Truths Behind All The Lies

This is a little long, but worthwhile, so please take a moment during this special edition Monday RR and click on the link to the article I’m referencing.  https://thejewishvoice.com/2024/03/victor-davis-hanson-gaza-truths-behind-all-the-lies/

Who is Victor Davis Hanson? https://victorhanson.com/biography/  He has authored or co-authored more than 25 books as part of his lifelong study of the history of war.  Victor Davis Hanson is the Martin and Illie Anderson Senior Fellow in Residence in Classics and Military History at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University, a professor of Classics Emeritus at California State University, Fresno, and a nationally syndicated columnist for Tribune Media Services.

He is also the Wayne & Marcia Buske Distinguished Fellow in History, Hillsdale College, where he teaches each fall semester courses in military history and classical culture.

But this is the “Rabbi’s Reflections,” not the “Victor Davis Hanson’s Reflections!”  Let me explain why I’m redirecting you to this recent article.  All around the world (every government and political leader) is consumed with ungodliness and unrighteousness.  They are all exchanging the truth for lies.  And God is not going to indulge such behavior forever.

Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men. In unrighteousness they suppress the truth,…22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools… 25a  They traded the truth of God for a lie.

No where in the world are these ungodly lies more pronounced than against Israel and especially the war Israel is waging against the forces of evil.  In this article, Victor Davis Hanson exposes the lies of the enemy, point by point.  There are eight “catch phrases” and “words” brought to light in the article, occupied Gaza, collateral damage, disproportionate, two-state solution, ceasefire, Ramadan, civilian casualties, foreign aid, and prisoners.  The enemy likes to throw around these words and phrases as he attempts to reinvent their meanings.  The adversary tells the same lies until people begin to believe them as truth.

After you read the article, please come back to the conclusion of the RR below, so we can wrap things up for today and get back to our study of the Psalms tomorrow.

This may sound like political activism.  It isn’t.  I’m advocating for the kingdom of God.  The people of Israel must know that the people of God stand with them as a faithful witness that God will keep His promises to the children of Israel.

Genesis 17:7 “Yes, I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your seed after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, in order to be your God and your seed’s God after you. 8 I will give to you and to your seed after you the land where you are an outsider—the whole land of Canaan—as an everlasting possession, and I will be their God.”

There is a season coming in which God will do a work to separate people.  Matthew 25:31 “Now when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. (In Jerusalem) 32a All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them from one another,… 34 Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world…. 41 Then He will also say to those on the left, ‘Go away from Me, you cursed ones, into the everlasting fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels.’”

The warning could not be any clearer.

Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived—God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows, that he also shall reap. 8 For the one who sows in the flesh will reap corruption from the flesh. But the one who sows in the Ruach will reap from the Ruach eternal life. 9 So let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we don’t give up.

Let’s do that… “Don’t give up.”  Do good and stand for the truth in love.  Shalom shalom.
