Rabbi’s Reflections – Monday, March 7, 2022
Shalom,
I’m doing something different and exceptional today. I’m going to publish something that is not an RR, in the strictest sense of the word. I’m going to publish an appeal and ask you to pray about sending it along to anyone who might be interested.
About 20 years ago, Eddie Hart, an architect and faithful member at Shomair Yisrael, started a ministry and asked me to be a board member. The mission, vision and values are described in the letter below. Please read it with prayerful interest and pass it along as the Lord leads. Thank you.
We are ALL Bonay Yisrael, (Builders of Israel),
We all love Israel and Jewish people! We all want to see the Messianic part of Israel flourish. Development of buildings and campuses is an important natural part of that growth. So, when a Messianic architect began to pray about how he might honor Adonai with his skill and make a difference, the vision for Bonay Yisrael (Builders of Israel) was birthed.
Along with others who shared his vision, the members of the board of Bonay Yisrael have invested countless hours of God given talent, skill, and work to help many Messianic development projects get off the ground, both here in America and in Israel itself. Now it’s time to “pass the baton” to others who are equally, or perhaps even more talented, but definitely younger and more energetic. We believe that with the right team what began 20 years ago can be taken, adjusted, and some new ideas added to grow Bonay Yisrael beyond all expectations until Yeshua Returns, and maybe even beyond.
Bonay Yisrael, Inc. is a Non-Profit, 501-c-3 organization incorporated in Tennessee. This ministry has reached a plateau and the current Board of Directors is seeking to find new leadership with a passion to carry the vision forward. What you are reading is really an appeal to our Father in heaven, that He will call forth those in His Kingdom who are ready to lift the banner and carry it into the future.
The vision of Bonay Yisrael has been to offer for free, limited professional services, especially for front-end planning and development of projects so they can get off the ground at greatly reduced cost, and to support concept project design for launch and publication. These professional services free up capital funds to better serve the client ministry’s core mission and help to avoid or reduce debt and long term interest obligations to lenders.
The value of these free architectural/engineering services, range from 5% to 16% of building project costs (more for complexity). Professional rendering artworks (not including “architectural building design” phase), range from $2,000 to $8,000 each, and for 30 second 3D fly-around video like was done for “Tikvat Israel”, $9,000; or for the 120 second interior fly-around for “Shomair Mikvah”, $12,000; for a “Reality” Hollywood class version, $50,000. These costs are waved by Bonay Yisrael on behalf of their clients.
Support to cover office administration, and travel expenses for ministries like Bonay Yisrael are tax deductible and come from individuals, Messianic minded congregations, Messianic Synagogues, grants from non-profit foundations, and from clients’ free-will love offerings. Bonay Yisrael serves to recruit and provide volunteers, to coordinate project design, provide professional architects, engineers, artists, and builders who can contribute freely of their skills, gifts, wealth, and time in a common cause for the Glory of Yeshua!

Bonay Yisrael is unique, however, there are a few other non-profit organizations that have a similar mission and serve with both volunteer and low fee services (within IRS rules). A new board that wishes to do so could revise Bonay Yisrael charter and corporation documents by amendment with approval of the IRS. This would be more easily done than creating a new corporation and securing a new 501-c-3 non-profit certification.
