Shalom,
Psalms
Psalm 25:16 – Part 20
Psalm 25:16 Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted.
“Turn to face me.” This is the essence of the Hebrew. We are asking God to turn His countenance toward us. While God is not mentioned expressly, we do know from the context, the writer is addressing Adonai(YHVH). The substance of this verse appears as a prophetic utterance which is realized by Yeshua (Who is the reality of all things) in the last three verses of Matthew 11.
Matthew 11:28 Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and ‘you will find rest for your souls.’ 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
The invitation from Yeshua is compelling. He simply says, “Come to Me.” Many people feel the urge to learn from Yeshua, but resist the yoke. However; without the yoke (which is easy) we cannot be trained for use in His kingdom. His “yoke” is not a death sentence, but a promise for eternal life in His presence.
John 5:24 “Amen, amen I tell you, whoever hears My word and trusts the One who sent Me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed over from death into life.
The Feast of Passover is coming next month. While this holiday celebrates the ancient deliverance from Egyptian slavery, there is a greater “pass over” being celebrated, the deliverance from slavery to sin into the freedom of new life in Messiah Yeshua. Consider Paul’s message to the Romans…
Romans 6:22 But now, having been set free from sin and having become enslaved to God, you have your fruit resulting in holiness. And the outcome is eternal life.
One last word… John 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed! Shalom shalom.
