Rabbi’s Reflections – Tuesday, March 4, 2025
Shalom,
Psalms
Psalm 25:15 – Part 19
Psalm 25:15 My eyes are always looking to Adonai, for He will pull my feet out of the net.
That’s it Lord! Bring them (my legs) forth! Deliver them out of “the net!” We live in a world designed by Satan to trap our legs. “Legs” represent our way of walking before God. Satan wants to trip us up. 1Peter 5:8 Stay alert! Watch out! Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, searching for someone to devour.
Rabbi’s note: in Hebrew, legs and – by extension – feet are the same word. The same is true of arms and hands. End RN.
So, “What are you gonna do?” (I’m quoting my late mother-in-law, Millie.) The next few verses give us the pattern of success to be victorious overcomers. 1Peter 5:9a Stand up against him, firm in your faith,… 10 After you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace—who has called you into His eternal glory in Messiah—will Himself restore, support, strengthen, and establish you. That last verse promises four levels of blessings. Yeshua, Himself, will restore you. As if that is not enough, He will support you. What, you want more? Yeshua will strengthen you! And finally, as if we need yet more than that… Yeshua will establish you.
Restore: The Hebrew word, “Tikkun” comes to mind. We have all had innocence stolen from us by Satan. Yeshua will restore our sinless, innocent, nature. The loss of innocence involves the presence of shame. Just ask Adam and Eve. Isaiah 61:7 Instead of your shame, double portion. instead of disgrace they will sing for joy. Therefore in their land they will inherit a double portion; they will have everlasting joy.
Support: Yeshua is adding to our restoration the promise of “support.” This “support” is a confirmation or affirmation that we will be fully prepared to stand firm in the day of battle. Ephesians 6:13 Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist when the times are evil, and after you have done everything, to stand firm.
Strengthen: Are you feeling weak? Then receive strength from Yeshua, Who has the power to strengthen you. Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Surely I will help you. I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Who is God’s “Righteous Right Hand?” We know His name! It is Yeshua! Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Messiah who strengthens me.
Establish: The final promise of Yeshua is that He will establish you; that is, He will place you on a firm foundation. Matthew 7:24 Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. Yeshua’s example is of a physical house, but the better application is of a spiritual foundation. In this, we cannot be moved. Hebrews 12:28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude—through this we may offer worship in a manner pleasing to God, with reverence and awe.
This is why we keep our eyes on God, with expectation that He will set us free from the snare of the enemy. Our destiny is to worship God, “with reverence and awe” for all eternity. Shalom shalom.
