Psalms
Psalm 25:22 – Part 26

Psalm 25:22 Redeem Israel, O God, from all their troubles.

Today we’ll finish our devotional series of Psalm 25 which we began on February 10th.  The first Hebrew word of verse 22 is “P’deh,” meaning “ransom.”  King David is calling on “Elohim” to ransom exactly “Israel” from all their “Tzarotav,” meaning “troubles.”  Now, let’s unpack this.

God answered this prayer request by sending His Son…  1John 4:10 This is love—not that we have loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atonement for our sins.  But, Israel mostly missed the day of their visitation, as Yeshua prophesied.  Luke 19:43 “For the days will come upon you when your enemies will surround you with barricades and hem you in on all sides. 44 And they will smash you to the ground—you and your children within you. And they won’t leave within you one stone upon another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.”

Left to themselves, Israel is a people whose story involves snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.  But God… sent His Son…  Galatians 4:4 But when the fullness of time came, God sent out His Son, born of a woman and born under law— 5 to free those under law, so we might receive adoption as sons.  We are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.  Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Messiah…. 7 In Him we have redemption through His blood—the removal of trespasses—in keeping with the richness of His grace.

Through the grace available through the once for all time sacrifice of Yeshua, this story (His-story) has been transformed from a tragedy of huge proportions, into the greatest victory the world has ever known.  Yes, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.

2Corinthians 2:14 But thanks be to God, who in Messiah always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us reveals everywhere the aroma of the knowledge of Himself. 15 For we are the aroma of Messiah to God, among those who are being saved and those who are perishing— 16 to the one an aroma from death to death, to the other an aroma from life to life. Who is competent for these things?

May we all be “competent for these things!”  Shalom shalom.
