Shalom,
Psalms
Psalm 25:5 – Part 7
Psalm 25:5 Guide me in Your truth, and teach me, for You are God, my salvation, for You I wait all day.
“Jesus” is not mentioned in the TaNaCH, (A made up word for the Hebrew Scriptures: Tav for “Torah,” the Five Books of Moses, Nun for Nevi’im, the prophets, and Kaf for “Ketuvim,” the writings. Together they form the entirety of the Old Testament.) by that name. However; He is known by His Hebrew name, “Yeshua,” which is used almost 250 times in the TaNaCH. How did the rabbis miss it?
The issue becomes a matter of misplaced expectations. The Jews were expecting a conquering King, and what they got was a suffering servant. There is a discussion recorded in the Talmud over this issue. The majority opinion (in error) decided that there must be two Messiah’s. The minority opinion proposes there could be one Messiah who comes twice. Sadly, the minority was voted down.
There is one prophecy that bridges the gap between the suffering servant and reigning king. Zechariah 9:9 Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion! Shout, daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you, a righteous one bringing salvation. He is lowly, riding on a donkey—on a colt, the foal of a donkey. Who is this? A “lowly” King? Nothing like that has happened in this world… until Yeshua came.
Even the Apostles were mystified. They asked Yeshua, as He spoke with them after His resurrection. Acts 1:6 So when they gathered together, they asked Him, “Lord, are You restoring the kingdom to Israel at this time?” Yeshua doesn’t tell them their question is wrong. Instead, His answer is about God’s timing. Acts 1:7 He said to them, “It is not your place to know the times or seasons which the Father has placed under His own control.
“Yeshua is my Lord!” The Kingdom of God requires a King, and His name is Yeshua, the Son of the Living God. (A kingdom without a king is not a kingdom at all.) Yeshua is our King! He is coming soon, to rule and reign, and we will be at His side.
Revelation 19:11 Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The One riding on it is called Faithful and True, and He judges and makes war in righteousness. 12 His eyes are like a flame of fire, and many royal crowns are on His head. He has a name written that no one knows except Himself. 13 He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which He is called is “the Word of God.”
Revelation 20:4b,d And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Yeshua and because of the word of God…. And they came to life and reigned with the Messiah for a thousand years.
Bo Yeshua Bo… we wait for you, come swiftly Yeshua, come. Shalom shalom.
