A Prayer For Today
Part 2

We are trying to fit the current events in Israel (the attack by Hamas on October 7th, and the unleashing of rampant anti-Semetism worldwide) into known prophesy concerning the end times.  We want to do this, without a lot of “hand wringing” and platitudes, but with intentionality to know and touch the heart of God.

I find it interesting that “Hamas” is actually a Hebrew word that means “fury.”  Ezekiel 38:18 “In that day, when Gog comes against the land of Israel”—it is a declaration of Adonai—“My FURY (Hamas) will rise up in My nostrils.”  A few verses later in Ezekiel 38 we read that God is going to do something of a proportion to the Exodus from Egypt with it’s plagues.   Everything in the sea and on the land will be shaken along with all of humanity.  God will show His power as He makes an example of all the nations that rise up against Israel.

We read at the end of the chapter… Ezekiel 38:22b I will pour out rain on him (Gog), on his troops and on the many peoples with him, a torrential rain, with hailstones, fire and brimstone.  There is a reason for this demonstration of God’s wrath.  Ezekiel 38:23 “So I will magnify and sanctify Myself. I will make Myself known in the eyes of many nations, and they will know that I am Adonai.”

Ezekiel 38 describes what is known as the war of Gog and Magog.  But why would they attack Israel, don’t they have a Bible?  Have they not read of their own destruction in Ezekiel 38?  (For that matter, didn’t Pharaoh experience the first nine plagues?)  At the beginning of Ez 38, there is an explanation.  God says that He will draw them against Israel.  Ezekiel 38:4a I will turn you about and put hooks into your jaws. I will bring you out, with all your army.  The “hook” is set and God, Himself, will draw the armies of Gog and Magog against His people Israel.

Let us pray… Oh Lord, our God, You, Who is above all, would you bring forth the victory promised by Your prophet, Ezekiel.  Ezekiel 39:4a You (Gog) will fall on the mountains of Israel—you, all your troops and the people that are with you. …Along with the fullness of Your purpose for such a victory… Ezekiel 39:7 So I will make My holy Name known among My people Israel. I will not let My holy Name be profaned anymore. The nations will know that I am Adonai, the Holy One in Israel.  In Yeshua’s name, Amen.

We’ll unpack this further tomorrow.  Until then, Shalom shalom.
