Rabbi’s Reflections – Monday, December 6, 2021
Shalom,
Today is the eighth day of Chanukah. What a great holiday it has been this year. Here is a link to the Chanukah presentation at Shomair yesterday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAO_XrGZkBc (go to 48 minutes) The image above is of the ending.

Every Sunday we (those who join us in reading the “Daily Bread”) begin reading the Torah portion that will be read aloud in the synagogue on the following Shabbat. So, yesterday we began reading the portion titled “Vayigash,” meaning (Judah) “drew near” (to Joseph). The “reveal” that takes place in Chapter 45 is part of the reading for today. I just read it again and it still brings tears to my eyes.
Why? There’s a story within the story. The Lord does this throughout Scripture. All of history is building to the great “REVEAL,” when Yeshua is revealed. The prophesy of the revelation of Yeshua is throughout the Scriptures, both Hebrew Scriptures and New Covenant Scriptures, so much that I have trouble choosing just a few short proof texts. Why, the last book of the Bible is even named, “The Revelation.” I picked over many verses to select this verse (which was in the message on Shabbat).
1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord Himself shall come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the blast of God’s shofar, and the dead in Messiah shall rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left behind, will be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air—and so we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.
Yeshua is coming to gather those who have followed Him from among the Gentiles, but also for the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Romans 11:26 and in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written, “The Deliverer shall come out of Zion. He shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob.
Just as Joseph revealed himself to his brothers, so Yeshua will reveal Himself to His brothers. That encourages me. Shomair is a place where Jewish people can find the Jewish Messiah. As we pray weekly in our congregational declaration, “Bo Yeshua Bo!”
