Rabbi’s Reflections – Wednesday, December 25, 2019
Merry Christmas *|FNAME|*,
Okay, I submit. Merry Christmas everyone. I’m expecting this to be published at 6pm on Christmas Eve. Joy to the world, the Lord is come…. I just can’t bring myself to say, “Bah humbug.”
Rabbi Trail: On the first day back to school from Christmas break, the teacher asked every student to tell the rest of the class about a favorite moment during the holiday. The only Jewish student in the class, Bernie, became increasingly nervous as each student told of times of caroling and gathering around the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve.
When it was his turn, he expressed his nervousness. “My family is Jewish,” he said. “We don’t have a Christmas tree and we don’t sing Christmas Caroles. We kept our store open until the last minute on Christmas Eve. After we served the last customer, we gathered around the cash register, held hands and sang “What A Friend We Have In Jesus.”
Ba dum bum. End RT.
After that, I’m not sure how quickly I can become serious. I do want to write about the next Spirit of God, the Spirit of Knowledge, which is no laughing matter. Every spirit of God has a satanic counterfeit. And none, more than the Spirit of Knowledge.
It was that Satanic counterfeit that led to the fall of Adam and Eve (and consequently, the rest of us). Watch this…
Genesis 3:4 The serpent said to the woman, “You most assuredly won’t die!5 For God knows that when you eat of it, your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
Satan always starts with a lie, promising “You… won’t die!” And she didn’t, but she did start to die. Eve ate and entered the process of death. All of us (descended from her) are still in it. But God…
Rabbi Trail: Before I go on with this, I want to finish the “But God…” lead in above. But God sent His Son, so that we would have eternal life. We who believe in Him will never taste second death. We don’t have to know as He knows, but we do have to be as He is. And He is holy. And we are sanctified by His once-for-all-time sacrifice on the cross. Please join me in expressing thanksgiving for His love for us. End RT.
The good aspect of the Spirit of Knowledge is that we will know God. Not to be God, but to be children of God (and there is quite a difference). We have this promise… John 16:13 But when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on His own; but whatever He hears, He will tell you. And He will declare to you the things that are to come.
We are not supposed to stumble about in darkness, but… 1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of His Son Yeshua purifies us from all sin.
That is knowledge to be cherished. Blessings. R. Michael.
Week 52
Memory Verse: Revelation 21:3 I also heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the dwelling of God is among men, and He shall tabernacle among them. They shall be His people, and God Himself shall be among them and be their God. 4 He shall wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more. Nor shall there be mourning or crying or pain any longer, for the former things have passed away.”
256 12/23 Monday: Revelation 2
257 12/24 Tuesday: Revelation 3
* 258 12/25 Wednesday: Revelation 19:6-20
259 12/26 Thursday: Revelation 21
260 12/27 Friday: Revelation 22
Question of the day: Oh my. This is only 15 verses of Scripture. Such a beautiful picture of the wedding feast of the lamb and of the destruction of the two counterfeit witnesses, the beast and the false prophet. Read it and enjoy. I’m taking the rest of the morning off. Blessings.
