(Early) Shabbat Shalom,

Love Each Other / Glorify God part 15 – Romans, part 240

Romans 15:17 So in Messiah Yeshua, I have reason to boast before God. 18 For I will not dare to speak of anything except what Messiah accomplished through me, to bring about the obedience of the Gentiles by word and deed.

What does Paul mean when he says… “What Messiah accomplished through me, to bring about the obedience of the Gentiles?”  I didn’t quite finish quoting the verse, did I?  “By word and deed” answers a number of questions.  First “obedience by word” has to speak of obedience to the word.  And (let’s go step by step here) what “word” would that be?  Why, the word of God, of course.

That leads us to another question… what is “obedience by deed.”  Answer: Doing what the word says to do.  Paul spent his life spreading the good news of Yeshua with the non-Jewish world of his day.  Does that mean we have to turn the Gentile world into Jews?  Not at all!  Obedience to God fits into any culture.

To bring people of diverse cultures into obedience to God’s righteous standard, is not “Judaizing,” it is making holy out of the profane.  It is making the straight way out of what is naturally twisted.  Yeshua said exactly that… Matthew 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. KJV  But Yeshua didn’t say it first, Solomon did… Proverbs 3:5 Trust in Adonai with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

Paul labored for the inclusion of the Gentile world into the kingdom of God.  Today we need many to answer the call to show Jewish people that they/we also have a place in the kingdom of God.  Although every culture will fit in, the kingdom of God is an especially easy fit for Jewish culture.  There must be scales on Jewish eyes to keep them/us blind.  Oh Lord, open blind eyes.

Isaiah prophesied over Yeshua… Isaiah 42:6 “I, Adonai, called You in righteousness, I will take hold of Your hand, I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people, as a light to the nations (Gentiles), 7 by opening blind eyes, bringing prisoners out of the dungeon, and those sitting in darkness out of the prison house.

Please pray with me, “Oh Lord, fulfill your promises to the seed of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and include them/us in your coming kingdom.  Bring in the whole harvest, Lord.  We are asking for nothing less than worldwide revival.”  Romans 11:15 For if their rejection (not that God rejected Israel, but most of Israel rejected Yeshua) leads to the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead? Is there a better description of revival anywhere else in Scripture?

Romans 11:25 For I do not want you, brothers and sisters, to be ignorant of this mystery—lest you be wise in your own eyes—that a partial hardening has come upon Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in; 26 and in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written, “The Deliverer shall come out of Zion. He shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob. 27 And this is My covenant with them, when I take away their sins.”  Shalom shalom.
