Love Each Other / Glorify God part 12 – Romans, part 237

Romans 15:13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and shalom in trusting, so you may overflow with hope in the power of the Ruach ha-Kodesh.

Hope is mentioned twice while joy, power and “shalom in trusting” are all mentioned once.  Paul is offering up a prayer for you.  Do you receive it?  It starts with “Now may God fill you.”  It makes me think… in order to be filled, we’ve first got to be empty.  This is a reference to the importance of humility (the opposite of puffed up fleshly pride).  Jacob 4:6b “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

And (as the prayer continues) not just to fill us, but “may you overflow with hope in the power” of the Holy Spirit.  Yeshua told us what is the power of the Holy Spirit.  John 14:26 “But the Helper, the Ruach ha-Kodesh whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you everything and remind you of everything that I said to you.”   He continues to teach us, after the resurrection, that the Holy Spirit also empowers us to do the will of God.  Act 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Ruach ha-Kodesh has come upon you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and through all Judah, and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

There is no way we can lose, as long as we’re with God.  Romans 8:31  What then shall we say in view of these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?  With victory assured, what’s left?  I have to shorten this because it is long, but feel free to read the entire selection for yourself.

1Timothy 6:11 But you, O man of God,… pursue righteousness, godliness, faithfulness, love, perseverance, and gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith! Take hold of the eternal life.… 13a I charge you before God… 14 to keep this command… until the appearing of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah.

May the Lord bless us all as we respond to His call.  Shalom shalom.
