RR – 11/4/21 Collaboration With Jerry Miller – part 15:

This is the final installment of my 15 part collaboration with Jerry Miller.  Jerry is a precious man of God.  I have known Jerry and his wife, Jo, for 35 years when they were part of the eldership at Beth Messiah Congregation in Rockville, MD.  

Earlier this year Jerry published his first book, “Grace Beyond Reason.”  Paul Wilbur wrote the forward.  Jerry goes into great detail in his exposition of Grace.  He makes the point that the grace of God is beyond our highest hopes and expectations.  It certainly isn’t justice, because we don’t deserve it.  That makes it truly “Grace Beyond Reason.”  Here is a link to the book. https://www.amazon.com/Grace-Beyond-Reason-Untapped-Intends/dp/1954533098?asin=1954533098&revisionId=&format=4&depth=1  You will enjoy it.  I have.

Jerry came to Knoxville this last September with his wife, Jo, from their home in West Virginia to spend Sukkot with us.  During their visit they repeatedly poured into our community.  This collaboration (now 15 parts long) is based on Jerry’s notes from his first message.  It was titled “Sukkot and Revival.”  Jerry’s final comments were all about revival, so that’s my subject today.  Here we go.

The letter board in front of the country church reads, “Revival Next Sunday at 7:00PM.”  Begs the question, how do they know?  Must be that what they mean by revival and what I mean by revival are two different things.  I mean revival in its purest form.  “Re-” means to “do ‘it’ again.”  “-Vival” is from the Latin “viv” meaning “live.”  So “revival” means to “live again.”  To “live again,” someone must live, then die and then “live again.”  Revival is nothing less than life from the dead.  

We can’t have a serious discussion of revival without considering Ezekiel’s vision of dry bones.  Ezekiel 37:1 The hand of Adonai was upon me. The Ruach Adonai carried me out and set me down in the middle of the valley. It was full of bones. 2 He led me all around them. Behold, there were very many on the floor of the valley. Behold, they were very dry.  Dry bones are dead.  They were once alive, but all life is based on water.  “Dry” is the absence of water.

This reminds me of Yeshua’s discussion with Nicodemus regarding the need to be born again.  (See John 3:1-8)  In Ezekiel’s vision, this is done in stages.  First the bones rattle, then flesh comes upon the bones, and finally the spirit of new life is given.  

Ezekiel 37:8b but there was no breath in them. 9 Then He said to me, “Prophesy to the Ruach. Prophesy, son of man, and say to the Ruach, thus says Adonai Elohim: ‘Come from the four winds, Ruach! Breathe upon these slain, that they may live.”

This is huge!  When the world sees what God has done to the “whole house of Israel,” there will be a worldwide revival.  No man knows the day or the hour.  Please follow me here.  We can be certain the coming revival is connected to the second coming of Yeshua.  And the second coming of Yeshua is prophesied through the fall Feasts of the Lord.  And the final Feast of the Fall Feasts is Sukkot!  

God tabernacling with us, Emanuel.  Not just the natural birth of His first coming, as a suffering servant.  Still in the future, His second coming with power, power to give life from the dead, as the reigning King of the Jews.  From His throne in Jerusalem He will rule the whole world.  That’s REVIVAL.
