Shavuah Tov,
Psalms
Psalm 19:6,7(5,6) – Part 4
Psalm 19:6(5) It is like a bridegroom coming out of his bridal chamber. It is like a strong man rejoicing to run his course. 7(6) It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other end. Nothing is hidden from its heat.
We start with two poetic similes, in an attempt to describe in detail both the vast greatness and the precise detail of God’s magnificent creation. How would you describe creation? Any words must fall short. Even so, this is not the only attempt at describing with wonder of creation. Psalm 96:11 Let the heavens be glad, let the earth rejoice. Let the sea roar—and all that fills it. 12 Let the land exult—and all that is in it. Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy—. And there is a reason for all this joy… Psalm 96:13 before Adonai, for He is coming! For He is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness and the peoples in His faithfulness.
That “joy” over His coming is not universal. Many will be glad the Lord is coming to judge, while others will be sad (or even distressed). Yeshua spoke the parable of final judgment. Matthew 25:34 Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world…. 41 Then He will also say to those on the left, ‘Go away from Me, you cursed ones, into the everlasting fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels.
Better get ready, the bridegroom is coming. Isaiah 54:5 For your Maker is your husband—Adonai-Tzva’ot is His Name—the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer. He will be called God of all the earth. 6 “For Adonai has called you back like a wife deserted and grieved in spirit, like a wife of one’s youth that is rejected,” says your God. 7 “For a brief moment I deserted you, but I will regather you with great compassion.
Our text concludes, “nothing is hidden.” That’s an important part of our destiny prophesied by Yeshua. Luke 12:2 There is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, and nothing hidden that will not be made known. So, we make a positive confession as we walk according to His ways… 1John 2:6 whoever claims to abide in Him must walk just as He walked. Shalom shalom.
