Rabbi’s Reflections – Tuesday, November 12, 2024
Shalom,

If you have not seen this message from Jonathan Cahn, please click and watch.  https://youtu.be/2bS0dYWWh0Q?si=_tDjV7JmvEMBvlHu The word he gave a week before the election (it is replayed in the middle of the larger 23 minute message) is important to hear. Someone sent it to me, and I’m glad he did.  Also, there are several commercial interruptions baked into the video.  You can click to skip, if you like.

Psalms
Psalm 19:12(11) – Part 11

Psalm 19:12(11) Moreover by them Your servant is warned. In keeping them there is great reward.

“Them” are mentioned twice.  First we are warned and then we are promised a “great reward.”  By taking this out of context, we can lose our understanding of who “them” is.  Ahhh, but how could we forget.  The Psalm has previously listed (see verses 8,9,&10) six elements of God’s kingdom that are (according to verse 11) of more value than gold and sweeter than honey.

Rabbi Trail:  Lynn DeShazo wrote a song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2hGhWiAMQk paraphrasing Psalm 19:11(10) (yesterday’s scripture) as well as these verses…

Psalm 73:25 Whom have I in heaven but You? On earth there is none I desire besides You.

(Solomon’s request) 2 Chronicles 1:10 Now give me wisdom and knowledge that I may go out and come in before this people. For who can govern this great people of Yours?”

Psalm 21:3 You granted him his heart’s desire, and You did not withhold the request of his lips. Selah

And finally, this from King David’s prayer… 2 Samuel 7:22 Therefore You are great, my Lord Adonai! For there is none like You, and there is no other God besides You, as we all have heard with our ears.  End RT.

The Torah and the authority of God are the essence of these six aspects of the power of God.  Together, they warn us, but what is their warning?  Torah, testimony (Aydut) , precepts (Pikudei), mitzvot (positive commandments), fear of Adonai (Yirat Yehovah), and judgments (Mishpatei) are combined to warn us not to cross over into disobedience (aka rebellion), nor should we cross back over into unbelief.

2John 1:8 Watch yourselves, so you do not lose what we have worked for but receive a full reward.

Obey God’s principles and you will receive a great reward… Galatians 6:9 So let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we don’t give up.  Shalom shalom.
