Collaboration with Jerry Miller – part 6:

Rabbi Trail: How often have I been asked, “What are you thinking?”  That’s not a harmful question in itself.  Usually, the answer is, “Nothing.”  You see, that blank stare really is a blank stare.  But sometimes I think like a duck paddles.  Nothing visible going on, but the feet (my brains) are churning unseen.  So it is with us in our walk with the Lord.  We think about God, His Kingdom, and His ways, especially as we endure challenges. The better question is, “How are you thinking?” End RT.

Let’s pick up where we left off yesterday.  When faced with challenges, we have two choices.  We can put Yeshua on the throne of our hearts, or we can put “Adam” on the throne.  I put “Adam” in quotes because Adam is not really Adam.  Adam is anything, anyone, or any thought that is not Yeshua.

When we hurt or are sick, do we focus on our pain and suffering or on our Lord and His promises of healing and deliverance?  Hear the Word of the Lord.  Hebrews 12:1b Let us run with endurance the race set before us,  2 focusing on Yeshua, the initiator and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before Him, He endured the cross, disregarding its shame; and He has taken His seat at the right hand of the throne of God.  Later in the same chapter we find this… Hebrews 12:12 Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble! 13 And make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame will not be pulled out of joint but rather be healed.

The Bible says we’ve become joint heirs with Yeshua.  Romans 8:16 The Ruach Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. 17 And if children, also heirs—heirs of God and joint-heirs with Messiah—if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.  We have been given everything we need for life and godliness.  Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Messiah.  Let me finish this point with a question?  When challenged, is that how we think?

Yesterday, we reviewed the words of Yeshua, as He was telling the Samaritan woman, John 4:14 But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never be thirsty. The water that I give him will become a fountain of water within him, springing up to eternal life!”  Remember this, “…a fountain of water within….”  This only happens when Yeshua is on the throne, reigning in our hearts.  That fountain of life is the product of a living relationship.

This difference (between Adam and Yeshua) is also seen in the story of the ten virgins, only in this parable the water of life is the oil of the Spirit for light, same message, different analogy.  Matthew 2:2 Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.  The five wise virgins had it, and you can have it too.  Getting filled with oil or water is a matter of walking in a living relationship with God.  It’s out of that relationship that our praying flows.  Our ministry to is not a product of assignment, but the result of the leading (out of relationship) of the Holy Spirit.

Our joy, our peace, our own personal sense of spiritual renewal, all flow from the fountain of living water that is in us all the time.  Our flame becomes an eternal flame because the supply of oil from the Holy Spirit never runs dry.  When we know the well is on the inside, we don’t have to wait to experience the presence and power of the Lord.  We don’t have to wait for services or a meeting, or even the revival for which we are praying.

The Samaritan woman wants to know where to worship.  John 4:20 “Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you all say that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”  She is asking the man (Yeshua), that she perceives is a prophet, should we worship here or in Jerusalem?  Yeshua answers her, in effect, it’s not about a place.  John 4:23 “But an hour is coming—it is here now—when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people as His worshipers. 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”  It’s not about a place, it’s about the power and presence that is in you.  Think on these things.  As Paul Harvey used to say, “Good day.”
