Shavuah Tov,
Psalms
Psalm 23:1 – Part 2
Psalm 23:1 A psalm of David. Adonai is my shepherd, I shall not want.
Psalm 23:1b …I shall not want. The Good Shepherd leads us into abundance. There has never been a shortage in God’s kingdom. (When God needs more of anything, He just creates it.) Therefore; when we find ourselves in a shortage, we should stop to reevaluate when and how we strayed from the path of righteousness.
Psalm 34:9 Taste and see how good Adonai is. Blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him. 10 Fear Adonai, His kedoshim, For those who fear Him lack nothing. 11 Young lions may lack, and go hungry, but those who seek Adonai want for no good thing.
Young lions are unskilled hunters. They may lack and go hungry, and we too, as we develop talent and ability may experience temporary shortage. BUT those who seek Adonai will be filled. Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
This first verse of Psalm 23 is very much like the top button of a shirt. Once it is aligned properly, the rest of the shirt comes into perfect alignment. So too, in our walk with the Lord, when He is our Shepherd, we will be lead by Him into shalom, which is complete wholeness, lacking nothing.
Luke 12:24 Consider the ravens. They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn, yet God feeds them. How much more valuable you are than birds!… 31 Instead (of worrying about your needs), seek His kingdom, and these things shall be added to you.
These thoughts are not promote irresponsibility or reckless behavior. Rather, Yeshua is teaching us to depend upon God in all things. Hebrews 4:16 Therefore let us draw near to the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace for help in time of need. And we become unshakeable… Jacob 1:4 And let endurance have its perfect work, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. Shalom shalom.
