Rabbi’s Reflections – Tuesday, June 26, 2018
Shalom!
Pictured above is Rebekah Taylor standing atop in Israeli “Merkava” (chariot) tank on the Syrian border. If you could remember Rebekah Taylor in prayer. She reported for duty yesterday with the MDA (Magen David Adom – the Israeli equivalent of the Red Cross, Jewish people don’t have crosses, we have stars) at the Israeli Syrian border under armed guards and snipers. She is working in a medical camp for refugees and soldiers.–
Rabbi Trail: Israel began developing its own tank, the Merkava, almost 50 years ago. They are continuing to manufacture and improve the fourth generation of that design. It is especially equipped to preserve the lives of the crew while bringing maximum damage to the enemy in the terrain in which Israel is defending itself. It can fire missiles as well as shells meaning it can destroy threats it can’t see (missiles can turn corners and strike with precision while shells cannot turn corners and lose accuracy over distance). I can’t get over it has a 1500 horsepower engine (about twice the HP of an Indy car. How do they know it has 1500 HP? I don’t think they have that many horses in all of Israel. End RT.
Announcement: One week from tomorrow Jacquelyne will be arriving in Knoxville for a two week vacation. (Yippee!). Special request: Does anyone have an extra car to lend her while she is visiting (she is staying local)? She has a current driver’s license and I have it on good authority she is a careful driver. Thank you if you can help us with this. Blessings.
Week 26
Memory Verse: Daniel 6:27 I issue a decree that in all the dominion of my kingdom people are to tremble with fear before the God of Daniel. “For He is the living God, enduring forever! His kingdom will never be destroyed, His dominion will never end. 28 He delivers and rescues. He performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on earth. He has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions!”
126 6/25 Monday: Daniel 5-6
* 127 6/26 Tuesday: Daniel 9-10,12
128 6/27 Wednesday Ezra 1-2
129 6/28 Thursday: Ezra 3-4
130 6/29 Friday: Ezra 5-6
Question of the day: Did you read the 3 chapters assigned for today? Daniel 9 alone would be adequate for teaching the rest of the year. It’s all about the comings of Yeshua (both first and second).
Rabbi Trail: Concerning non-believing rabbis… There is a note in a previous RR that “non-believing rabbis” is an unfair term we commonly use to mean those rabbis who have not yet received Yeshua as their personal Lord and Savior. A better title might be “not yet believing in Yeshua” rabbis.
Some non-believing rabbis have come to faith (drop the “non”) in Yeshua by reading Daniel 9. In verse 26 we learn that the Messiah will be cut off (after 62 weeks, but more on that later). This “cut off” has to take place before the Beit HaMikdash (Hebrew name for the Temple) is destroyed by another prince who will come. Again, Daniel hears a prophetic word that the Messiah will be cut off before the Temple is destroyed. That should be enough evidence in itself to change hearts, but for the scales (blinders) preventing clear sight of this prophetic word.
Folks (includes friends and family), I am going to write something about this for many days in short pieces (in small installments) until I’ve got it all said, like I did with the Shema. After I read Daniel 9, 10, and 12 today I felt like I had been drinking from a firehose. It’s not fair just to move on because we have to. Time is on my side (not original).
Also not original is writings from my first Messianic rabbi, David Chansky, who has studied these things from every perspective and shared his accumulated knowledge with me. I’m still a good student of his. So I’ll be sharing his insights as well. “Buckle up” it’s going to be a wild ride.
I’m so thankful for the chance to review these biblical prophesies and to share them with you. Daniel is told to shut these things up until the end of time.
Daniel 12:9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
But God has said these mysteries are to be shared by His people with the world. Ephesians 3:10 “The purpose is that through Messiah’s community the multi-faceted wisdom of God might be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places, 11 which is in keeping with the eternal purpose that He carried out in Messiah Yeshua our Lord.”
Be blessed. We start tomorrow.
